This provision is good
The childminder forms very close relationships with parents. She uses multiple ways to include them in their children's learning and to gain their feedback about the care that she provides. The childminder provides exciting activities that sustain children's interest. They are fascinated with natural resources and spend long periods of time exploring treasure boxes that the childminder makes for them. Children make good progress in their communication and language skills. The childminder teaches them songs and rhymes and talks with children as they play. Children copy the actions of songs and anticipate what will happen next. Children are considerate and caring towards each other. The childminder provides a calm environment where children learn to share, take turns and be aware of the feelings of others. The childminder plans meals for children that are balanced and nutritious. She understands the needs of the young children she cares for and follows their home
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has yet to fully review and put into practice her knowledge gained from her most-recent training. The childminder does not always provide a wider range of activities to help extend the skills of children who are starting to walk.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector discussed a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at suitable times. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of the childminder and household members. The inspector read and took account of the written feedback provided by parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good awareness of child protection issues. Arrangements for safeguarding children are effective. The childminder maintains her knowledge of child protection issues through attendance at regular training and reading relevant information. The childminder has a good level qualification and reflects upon this when sharing her knowledge of children's development. She attends a range of training courses, but has yet to put all of her new learning into practice to improve the quality of her setting to a higher level. The childminder works with her local authority development worker to review her work. She has fully addressed the recommendation from her previous inspection. The childminder values contributions from parents and sends them regular questionnaires to gather their feedback.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's good quality teaching and well-planned activities help to motivate children. She knows children's individual stage of learning and effectively guides them. She offers children the chance to think about and test out their ideas. The childminder knows when to step back and allow children to explore and discover for themselves. She helps children to develop positive attitudes towards their learning through her balance of adult-led and child-led activities. Young children show their fascination for exploring materials. They practise putting small pieces of cornflakes into bottles and shaking them to hear the sound they make. The childminder's observations and assessments are accurate and precise. She uses the information that she gathers to determine what children need to learn next. The childminder has high expectations for what children can achieve. Her praise and encouragement motivates children who delight in playing together
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident, settled and happy. They greet the childminder and each other with smiles and are eager to join in with activities. Children grow close to the childminder and show their obvious attachment to her. In return, the childminder is warm and caring. She teaches children to be aware of their own identity and talks about family members with them. Children have ample opportunities to meet with others of a similar age and learn to be sociable outside of her home. The childminder promotes children's good health. She takes young children on regular walks and talks to parents about healthy meals. She meets children's personal needs swiftly to keep them comfortable.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder's good quality teaching and accurate assessments help children to make consistently good progress. Children are developing the skills and attributes that they need to be successful learners. They are well prepared for starting school when the time eventually arrives.
