p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides good quality teaching and follows children's lead to plan enjoyable activities. She observes children while they play and knows when they are ready for new challenges. The imaginative childminder makes resources that help young children to extend their listening skills. She has high expectations and introduces books to children at an early stage. Babies sit on the childminder's lap and look at pictures while she reads. This contributes effectively to children's vocabulary. The childminder joins in with play and motivates young children with lots of praise. She demonstrates actions which babies attempt to copy and she allows time for them to explore various textures. Children enjoy the interaction with the childminder and they develop good skills in all areas of learning. The childminder lays a strong foundation for children's future learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy in the care of the childminder and babies demonstrate that they feel emotionally secure. They babble in response to the childminder's interaction and they confidently make eye contact and repeatedly smile at visitors. Young children freely explore the environment and enjoy playing with toys that are within their reach. The childminder follows the care routines agreed with parents. She ensures babies sleep well, so that they are refreshed for play and other activities. Their independence is effectively promoted as they learn to hold spoons and attempt to feed themselves. They drink from beakers and control the flow of water well. Children develop good social skills and learn about the communities around them when they attend groups with others from a range of backgrounds.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children of all ages make good progress from their starting points. They are interested in learning and have opportunities to develop a wide range of skills. Children learn to interact socially and emotionally in large-group situations and this prepares them well for the next stage of their learning.
