Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Children enjoy ample opportunities to learn through play and be active. The childminder provides a very wide range of activities, both indoors and outside. These help to promote children's imagination and physical development extremely well. For example, children are engrossed in playing in the extensive mud kitchen, mixing stew and cooking it in the cauldron over the campfire. The resources that the childminder provides are well thought out and are carefully linked to children's identified next steps in learning. Children explore freely, experiment and discover. They match and name shapes and colours. They are supported to count the number of bricks in the tower, discovering for themselves why it falls down. Younger children enjoy making tea in the well-resourced home corner. The childminder works in close partnership with other settings children attend, in order to promote continuity.
p.3

Children settle extremely well at the childminder's home. Children receive lots of praise and affection so they know they are valued. This supports their emotional well-being and self-esteem to a very high degree. Children enjoy healthy snacks and home cooked meals. They routinely wash their hands after activities and before food, contributing to their developing understanding of why healthy lifestyles are important. Children are encouraged to be independent from an early age. The childminder maximises every opportunity to allow children to try out tasks for themselves. For example, children help themselves to water from the dispenser, peel their own bananas and are encouraged to butter their toast at snack time. Children have opportunities to interact with their peers when they attend toddler groups together.
