This provision is outstanding

 Children make excellent developmental progress. They reap great benefits from the sensitive, highly-skilled interaction and excellent teaching support they receive from the childminder. Children show eagerness and delight at being in the company of the childminder who completely supports their learning needs.  Children are emotionally very secure. They become socially adept from a young age and are completely prepared for the future because they develop excellent social skills.  An uncompromising drive for improvement and personal development by the childminder since her last inspection brings first-rate results for each child attending the setting. For example, the childminder set up a Saturday childminding networking group to share good practice and reads relevant books to enhance her knowledge.  The childminder's first-class, united approach to partnership working with parents ensures she meets children's needs exceptionally well. Parents receive a wealth of

information about the setting, their children's progress, and advice and tips on how to support their children's development at home.  The childminder focusses extremely sharply on assessing children's development and consistently implementing their next learning steps. She precisely monitors their progress and is quick to identify gaps in their learning.

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed children's play activities and the childminder's interactions with them.  The inspector undertook a joint observation with the childminder.  The inspector held discussions with the childminder about the children and looked at their learning records.  The inspector sampled some safeguarding and leadership documentation.  The inspector sampled written feedback from parents.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage to a very high standard. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent understanding of the procedures to take if worried about a child or family and keeps abreast of new legislation. The childminder ensures children receive extremely high levels of care and learning. She reflects upon, evaluates and monitors the delivery of the play programme, planning and assessment extremely effectively. This has enabled her to identify and make subtle variations in the delivery of play for children who have specific play styles. However, she does not always promote children's physical development, for example, by making excellent use of the outdoors. The childminder has extremely effective ways of working in partnership with other settings the children have recently started to attend.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The enthusiastic childminder delivers first-class teaching tailored to meet the interests, needs and strengths of each child. She has an excellent knowledge and understanding of how to promote children's learning. The childminder uses inspirational teaching opportunities to raise children's awareness of the wider world. For example, they share and talk about a favourite book, dress up as African ladies, balance baskets on their heads and use pictorial place mats with instructions of things to make in playdough which are linked to elements of the story. The childminder places exceptional emphasis during routines and play activities on the development of children's communication skills. For example, children relish using sign language and their home languages. They enthusiastically join in with repeated elements of favourite stories and sing rhymes in their play.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The exceedingly caring, patient and understanding childminder offers children a nurturing environment in which they flourish and feel extremely settled and secure. The extensive range of resources is easily accessible. This enables and encourages children to make independent decisions about their play. Older children behave exceptionally well and show high levels of confidence. For example, they tell the visitor words they know in other languages linked to the weather. Each child is carefully included by the childminder; they thrive upon the very specific attention, praise and encouragement given to them. The childminder is expert at managing younger children's behaviour and helping them to understand feelings. The childminder encourages children to take risks in a carefully managed way. For example, they climb across a low table to pick up beads.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make rapid progress which equips them exceptionally well for the move to school.
