This provision is outstanding

 The childminder shows outstanding dedication to the role she has in teaching and supporting children in their progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage. She provides an excellent range of interesting activities and play opportunities for every child.  Partnerships with parents are very strong. Newsletters and the sharing of information help to create a united approach to children's learning. This enables parents to be fully involved in their children's development and achievements.  High-quality observations and excellent knowledge of each child result in accurate assessments. These provide vital information to ensure any gaps in children's learning are identified very effectively and used in the simple but exceptional planning process.  Children are highly motivated and very eager to join in with a wide variety of activities. They are developing key skills needed for the next stage in their lives, for example,

school.  A very robust self-evaluation system takes account of the views of parents, children and other key persons. These are used to help ensure there is consistent and continued sustainable improvement in the childminder's provision.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 continue to extend the already outstanding opportunities for children to further extend their learning during their play.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the childminder and assistants during play and discussed children's development.  The inspector sampled policies, documents and children's records.  The inspector and the childminder carried out a joint observation.  The inspector held a discussion about the self-evaluation process in place with the childminder.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants regularly update their knowledge so they are extremely clear about what to do should there be any concerns about a child in their care. The childminder regularly attends training to continually develop her knowledge and expertise to the highest level. This has a very positive impact on the learning outcomes for children. It is very evident that the childminder and her assistants fully understand their roles and responsibilities. Parents have completed questionnaires and written testimonials; these state how extremely pleased they are with what the childminder provides for their children. They say their children are very happy, settled and are learning important life skills.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder is very experienced and highly skilled and this impacts positively on children's learning. The childminder consistently and regularly observes children and tracks their progress. Extremely informative and clearly written records demonstrate how very well children are developing and progressing. Photographs displayed show the wide variety of interesting activities children enjoy during their time with the childminder; for example, tracking worms in a worm farm or making pies and cakes in the excellently resourced mud kitchen in the garden. The childminder is very experienced in helping children extend their language and early communication development. For example, stories and rhymes are linked to children's interests. However, the childminder very occasionally misses opportunities to extend these further to challenge children even more. The childminder praises children, which inspires their sense of achievement. Children have

excellent opportunities to access physical play to help them gain important skills.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children settle quickly and well with the childminder. She ensures she takes the time to get to know the children and their families and this helps them to successfully build very strong attachments. The childminder gives children's emotional well-being excellent attention and provides a strong foundation for their learning and development. For example, she skilfully encourages children to respect and value each other's ideas and regularly prompts discussions during play. Children learn to play extremely well together, which helps to build children's self-esteem and emotional well-being exceptionally well. Children develop the independence to explore their environment and enjoy themselves.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children flourish in this highly stimulating and inclusive provision. They make extremely good progress in their development, ready for the next stage in their learning.
