This provision is good
The childminder has effective relationships with parents. She communicates with them on a daily basis and shares information about their child's development. Children are confident and happy, and demonstrate good levels of self-esteem. They develop strong bonds with the childminder and show, through their warm and affectionate relationships with her, that they feel emotionally safe and secure. The childminder is a good role model who teaches children to value and respect each other. The childminder provides a good variety of safe and suitable resources that support children's learning. These are well organised so that all children, including babies, can choose, explore and investigate independently. Children make good progress in their learning, relative to their starting points. The childminder makes accurate observations of children, which she uses effectively to monitor their ongoing progress and to plan for future learning. As a result, any gaps in

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of the teaching and learning experiences for children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including documents relating to children's progress and safeguarding. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents in the form of written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is well motivated. She evaluates the quality of her provision to identify and target areas for improvement. She makes use of local professional networks and training opportunities to keep well informed about current good practice. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the procedures to follow to protect children in her care. She takes necessary steps to identify all risks to children and implement fire safety measures to keep children safe. The childminder exchanges assessment information with parents and other childcare settings that children attend to promote continuity in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses a variety of teaching methods well to extend children's learning. For example, she joins in with their play and asks skilful questions to encourage them to think and respond. She uses her assessments of children's development to adapt activities to meet children's differing needs. She promotes children's communication and language skills well. For example, she encourages all children, including babies, to use signs as well as language to communicate their needs. The childminder involves children in planning what they do to help motivate them to learn. Children are keen to participate in activities. They relish dressing up and role play activities, such as setting up shops. Children develop their physical skills, for example, as they wiggle their bodies and dance in time to music. They enjoy listening to stories and join in enthusiastically with the actions.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder's home is well organised with dedicated areas for play, where children can explore safely. Children make choices and easily choose toys for themselves, developing their independence. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder helps them to build positive relationships with each other. Children learn how to share, take turns and consider the needs of others. The childminder teaches the children how to look after the environment, for example, she encourages children to tidy away the toys before selecting further activities. The childminder gathers initial information from parents so she can understand how to meet children's physical, emotional and developmental needs. Children enjoy a range of outdoor experiences and opportunities to build relationships with other children and adults. For example, these include weekly attendance at the local childminding group and soft play at the leisure centre.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development; they show enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. Children learn to manage their personal care needs. They develop confidence in readiness for their move on to nursery or school.
