The childminder keeps children safe. For example, she assesses hazards well in her setting and on outings to minimise risks to children. The childminder provides a welcoming and inviting environment to children. Children are happy and at ease, and enjoy their play and relax after school. They develop positive relationships with each other and the childminder, helping them to feel safe and secure. Children enjoy a good variety of outings and activities that keep them well occupied. They make their own play choices from the activities, toys and resources available.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas of the home used for childminding. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector viewed paperwork, including policies and procedures, and the childminder's self-evaluation documents. The inspector took parents' views into consideration by reading parent questionnaires.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has established good relationships with other settings that children attend. She is aware of what the children are learning at school and how to support their development in her care to help them continue their progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has recently updated her training and has a current understanding of safeguarding practice; she knows what to do if she has concerns about a child. The childminder shares a good range of information with parents about her setting. For example, she shares her policies and procedures to keep parents well-informed about her service and provides updates to them about any changes.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children well and provides resources to meet their interests and needs. She helps children to take part together in activities. For example, the childminder explains the rules of games to children so they are all aware of how to play. Children have comfortable areas to help them relax after school, such as to sit and read books. They develop their understanding of their own and other people's backgrounds, which helps them value and respects differences. For example, the childminder reads children books about people and the way they live, and they talk about similarities and differences. The childminder provides individual time and attention to children, which helps them share their thoughts and ideas confidently.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is warm, friendly and a good role model to children. She praises children for their achievements and they enjoy telling her about their day. Children behave well and understand the expectations of behaviour, such as respecting the toys and each other. The childminder helps children develop a positive sense of belonging. For example, children self-register when they arrive. They are also able to access anything that is important to them from their bags. Children are confident to share their views and ideas. For instance, they happily chat together as they play. The childminder provides a good range of nutritious, healthy meals and supports children's awareness of a healthy lifestyle. For example, she encourages children to have healthy snacks and play outside in the fresh air.
