This provision is good
The childminder offers a warm, friendly, caring environment. Children have access to all resources, in both indoor and outdoor areas. This helps children to feel happy, secure and fully engaged. The childminder has a good knowledge of the safeguarding procedures. She is aware of possible child protection concerns and knows who to contact. The childminder provides a good level of care. She continues to develop her knowledge and understanding of children's learning and development needs through various training courses. Children follow the consistent and well-developed behaviour boundaries based on simple rules and instructions from the childminder. This helps them learn how to behave well and to respect each other.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the best use of some opportunities to strengthen children's understanding of different cultures, religions and languages. The childminder does not have highly effective partnerships with all relevant early years providers to ensure that information sharing helps children to make the best possible progress.

Inspection activities
The inspector had discussions with the childminder about her self-evaluation and improvement plans. The inspector checked evidence of suitability and qualifications of the childminder. The inspector observed activities in the playroom and the outside learning environment. The inspector looked at children's assessment records and planning. The inspector took a tour of the indoor and outdoor environments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder's home is safe and secure. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder carries out visual risk assessments daily to minimise risks so that children are safe. The childminder understands the importance of effective partnerships with parents. For example, she regularly shares information about children's well-being and their learning and development. The childminder continually evaluates and reflects on her practice to identify her strengths and weaknesses. She has clear plans for development, for example, she wants to improve the resources to provide better learning opportunities for all children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well. She makes accurate observations and assessments of their development. This enables her to identify and plan effectively for children's individual needs to support their next steps in learning. The childminder provides a varied range of resources and planned activities to develop children's learning. For example, children collect natural objects, such as leaves, on their walk home from school to create craft pictures. This helps children to develop their imagination and gain a good understanding of the natural world around them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder encourages children to put their own coats and shoes on when going outside. This helps children build their self-confidence and independence ready for the next stage in their education. The childminder provides a nutritious range of snacks and meals. For example, she encourages children to try different foods during the social mealtime when they talk about healthy foods and lifestyles. Children have many opportunities for physical play to develop their coordination and physical skills. For example, children have fun peddling bikes around, and running up and down. The childminder encourages children to play together and this helps develop their understanding of being kind to each other.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They gain positive skills to help them prepare for school, such as learning the letters of their name and numbers.
