Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder has an extremely clear understanding of the statutory requirements and how to implement them so children are very well cared for. Her organisational skills are excellent and all the necessary records and documentation are very well maintained. Safeguarding is effective and the childminder constantly updates her knowledge through research and training.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder's wholehearted commitment to engaging children so they want to learn is highly successful. She knows the importance of communication and greatly encourages children's language. For example, she talks to them, asks questions and comments on their play, which sets an excellent example for children to challenge and question things for themselves. The childminder teaches mathematics particularly well. For example, she uses language effectively to help children recognise and use numbers, shapes, sizes and measurement. Even the youngest children develop outstanding, early mathematical skills. Children make excellent progress. The childminder plans activities specifically targeted to challenge and stretch each child to reach the next step. She is extremely focused on developing each child's full learning potential. The childminder provides very healthy snacks and meals. The childminder very cleverly reinforces their understanding of the importance of good hygiene practices. For example, she uses visual examples, such as using glitter to represent germs that do not easily wash off.
