This provision is good
Children form strong bonds with the childminder and their peers. They play in a welcoming family environment where their well-being is effectively promoted by the childminder. This helps children feel safe, secure and valued. Partnerships with parents are positive. They are kept informed of their children's progress. The childminder regularly talks to them about the activities that she provides and shares their children's assessment folders. The childminder knows the children that attend her setting well. She uses her knowledge to plan fun games and activities that reflect children's interests and to extend their learning. The childminder has updated her knowledge and understanding of the requirements. She has attended training and welcomed support from outside agencies. The childminder has implemented an effective development plan and taken positive action to improve the quality of her provision.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector talked with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. She looked at relevant documentation, such as children's records and a selection of policies and procedures. The inspector viewed written comments from a selection of parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has successfully addressed all actions raised at the last inspection. Effective risk assessments of the premises and equipment ensure that children play in a safe environment. The childminder has updated her knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures through training. She is aware of how to record and report any concerns about children's welfare. The childminder has reviewed and updated her policies and ensures that required records are accurately maintained in order to promote children's safety. The childminder has developed links with the local pre-school where children also attend. This helps to ensure a shared approach to children's care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children as they play. She undertakes regular assessments, including the progress check for children between two and three years. The childminder plans activities for children's individual learning needs and they make good progress overall. However, there are few opportunities for children to initiate and develop their own self-chosen play. Recently introduced monitoring and tracking systems help the childminder to check for any gaps in children's development. The quality of teaching is good. The childminder's animated interaction with children motivates them to join in with activities. She effectively questions children during conversations to encourage their thinking as they play. Children show a growing awareness of mathematics, for example, as they find numbered balloons. They successfully match numbers on cards to the corresponding balloon and compare the different sizes, shapes and colours. Children enjoy

role play. They demonstrate their growing imaginations as they dress up and pretend to be their favourite characters.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children play in a positive and friendly environment. They show a strong sense of fun and confidence with the childminder who gives them her full attention. The childminder constantly praises and acknowledges their achievements. She plays alongside children offering support and guidance and encourages them to be kind to each other and use good manners. Children develop an awareness of the world around them as they enjoy visiting local places of interest and meeting new people. Children's good health is promoted through the provision of healthy and nutritious meals and snacks and regular exercise. The childminder works with parents to ensure that children's individual dietary needs are met. Children enjoy being physically active both indoors and outside. They show good hand-to-eye coordination as they use balloons as bats and balls. Children are independent and self-assured. They express their needs with confidence and help
