p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The management team has a wealth of experience and use their expertise to guide, mentor and role-model excellent practice. They effectively monitor the progress of all children who attend, including different groups of children. This demonstrates how the playgroup is working to narrow the achievement gap and children are encouraged to reach their full potential. Safeguarding is extremely effective. Rigorous recruitment procedures ensure that staff are safe and suitable to work with children. Robust security systems are extremely effective. Scrutiny of the identification of visitors and locks on doors and gates contribute significantly to promoting children's safety and welfare. Parents receive a wealth of information regarding the service and educational programmes. They are fully involved in their children's learning and continuously informed of their progress. Staff training is targeted and purposeful. This, along with highly effective arrangements

for regular one-to-one supervisions to monitor staff performance has an exceedingly positive impact on learning outcomes for children. The managers and staff are extremely keen to attend further training, in order to continue to maintain high-quality practice.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children benefit from an extensive range of high-quality resources that effectively promote all seven areas of learning. Staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding of child development and how children learn. In addition, staff's knowledge of their key children is phenomenal. Staff meticulously track individual children's progress so that they can immediately identify any gaps in their learning and seek appropriate support, if necessary. They teach children to recognise and write their names and provide a broad range of activities to encourage them to read and write. Staff provide an extensive range of opportunities to help children develop their counting and number skills during play, adult- led activities and daily routines. This helps children acquire the skills that prepare them exceptionally well for future learning and eventually school.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are extremely happy and well settled in the playgroup. They demonstrate high levels of confidence as they make independent choices about what they want to do. Staff are excellent role models and provide clear and consistent boundaries to teach children right from wrong. Children learn to respect each other, behave appropriately and work together in harmony. For example, children take turns and share resources when participating in a baking activity. Staff are exceptionally sensitive and caring, and ensure that children's physical and emotional needs are consistently met to promote their self- esteem and emotional security.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make consistently rapid progress, including children whose starting points are below expected levels of development. Furthermore, several children achieve beyond expected levels of development for their age. Staff give high priority to the safety of children and effectively support their growing understanding of how to keep themselves safe and healthy.
