This provision is good
The childminder uses accurate assessments to monitor children's development and meet their individual learning needs. Children make good progress in their learning. The home is welcoming, stimulating, and interesting. The childminder fosters a culture of mutual respect. This helps children settle quickly and feel comfortable in the childminder's company. Children show good levels of self-esteem and confidence. All ages of children are able to make choices easily from the wide range of resources. This helps to develop their growing levels of independence. Good partnerships with parents and others ensure regular sharing of information. This helps the childminder to know the children well. She is able to offer them good support and helps them with the move on to pre-school or school. The childminder regularly evaluates her practice. Her effective methods of evaluation enable her to target areas for improvement successfully.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although the childminder provides good support for children to develop their early mathematical understanding, she does not always fully extend activities to enhance and build on what children already know. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to understand that print caries meaning. However, she does not always do so in a consistent way to support children's early reading and writing skills further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the separate playroom and outside learning environment. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled a range of documentation including children's records, safeguarding procedures, checked the range of resources and the evaluation system the childminder uses. The inspector checked the evidence of suitability and qualifications of the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is clear about her responsibilities in meeting the requirements. She is aware of procedures to follow should she have any child protection concerns. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is highly motivated to provide good quality childcare. She is aware of the importance of training to ensure her knowledge is up to date. The childminder has addressed the recommendations from her last inspection, and has developed good partnerships with other professionals and parents.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is consistently good. The childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of how to promote children's learning. Detailed observations, assessment, and planning help the childminder support those children who require extra support or extension in their learning. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills well. She speaks to children constantly as they interact. She regularly asks children questions to help them think and solve problems. She is good at dividing her time between the younger and older children, so they are all involved in activities at the appropriate level. For example, when older children complete a sticking activity, the childminder ensures the youngest child is also able to take part. Children enjoy developing their physical skills as they participate in outside play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form close attachments with the childminder and demonstrate they feel secure in her company. The childminder knows the children well and young children regularly go to her for reassurance. The childminder is a good role model, she offers praise and encouragement as she interacts with the children. Children respond with good behaviour and understand simple rules. They learn about taking turns and sharing. They are polite towards each other and the childminder, with little or no prompting. The childminder promotes children's health and well-being effectively, and supervises children well inside and outside. Children learn about how to manage risks and stay safe. For example, when children pretend the climbing frame is a pirate ship, the childminder reminds them to hold on so they do not fall into the sea.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning relative to their starting points. They are motivated and eager to learn and join in. Children develop the key skills they need to prepare them for the next stages in their learning, such as moving to school.
