This provision is good
The childminder carefully focuses her planning to provide children with a broad range of activities. This includes regularly going to local play sessions. This helps to prepare children for their move to other settings and effectively supports their emotional well- being. The childminder is passionate about her role, which is evident in her interactions with children. She develops strong relationships with the children. She reassures children where appropriate, while encouraging them to develop their independence. The childminder effectively organises her service so that she ensures children are included and their individual needs are met when they first start. She is proactive in obtaining additional resources to support particular aspects of their learning. The childminder effectively safeguards children. She has attended three different training courses in the last year and is knowledgeable and confident in dealing with

child protection concerns. The childminder is effective in evaluating her own practice. She keeps up to date with changes through research. She also gathers ideas of activities and resources to ensure that she continues to build on the range of experiences provided for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the resources provided within adult-led activities do not fully support children's active learning. The childminder does not always share enough information with parents and carers about how to guide their children's learning at home.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

focus more precisely on the resources needed within adult-led activities to maximise children's learning build on partnerships with parents and carers to consistently share information about how they can support their child's learning at home.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector discussed the planning of activities with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of training.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder continually checks the premises to ensure they are safe for children. She accesses training to improve her knowledge, which results in good quality learning opportunities for children. The childminder continually checks on children's progress to ensure that she can provide early and focused support if there are any gaps in their learning. She has an appropriate understanding of how to work in partnership with other settings that children attend. The childminder gathers useful information from parents and carers to establish what children can do when they first start. She shares information about children's needs and routines on a daily basis. She also regularly shares information about children's learning and development, including their next steps in learning. However, the childminder does not always clearly inform parents and carers about what skills she is teaching their children.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Therefore, they are not always able to build on this learning at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is natural in her interactions with children. She joins in with their play and follows their lead. She skilfully supports their investigations as she encourages them to explore the toys. For example, children become fascinated with a syringe. The childminder shows them how to use it with water and they make good attempts to do so. The children then notice that the syringe is dripping and transfer the water into a bowl. The childminder encourages this experimentation and children engage for long periods of time. The childminder effectively supports children's early language. For example, she introduces new words and gives children clear instructions. She effectively supports other skills, such as counting, without interrupting the children in their play. The childminder gives good consideration to what she wants children to learn from adult-led activities. However, occasionally the resources do not help children to achieve their goal and they do

not persevere as the activity is too difficult.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder sensitively helps children to settle and feel comfortable in different situations. She is a very positive role model who helps children to learn how to behave and interact with others. Children enjoy their time with the childminder. They enjoy plenty of space to play and have access to a good range of toys and resources. The childminder involves older children in activities about road safety, ensuring that they can help to support younger children's understanding. The childminder effectively teaches children about good health and hygiene. They learn to recognise that they need to wash their hands at certain times of the day from a very early age.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children benefit from good quality learning experiences and, as a result, are making good progress in their learning. They are developing the skills that they need for the move on to nursery or school.
