This provision is good
Children make good progress in their learning and development. This is because the childminder uses effective teaching strategies to support each child's individual learning needs. The childminder has a good understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage; this is evident through the activities and experiences she provides for the children. The childminder provides a warm and caring environment where children develop secure attachments, feel secure and are happy to explore the world around them. Children develop skills for their next stage of learning because the childminder effectively uses observation, assessment and planning systems to help identify and meet their specific learning needs. The childminder has strong partnerships with parents. This encourages continuity in children's learning between the provision and home, which contributes to the good progress that children make.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to promote children's mathematical learning throughout the daily routine to increase their skills further.

Inspection activities
The inspector toured areas of the provision used for childminding. The inspector sampled children's progress records and a range of documentation, including the safeguarding policy and procedures, attendance register, accident and medication records. The inspector spoke to children and the childminder at convenient times. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children. The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection to gather their views about the setting.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. This is because the childminder has a good understanding of her responsibility to protect and safeguard children; she is confident in what action she must take to protect them from harm. The childminder shares information with parents through daily conversation. She works with parents to identify any additional support that children may need and builds this into her daily interactions. The childminder updates her knowledge through training. Hence, she has developed her understanding of the required progress check for two-year-old children following further training. This has helped her to improve children's progress reports and identify any areas for further support. The childminder reviews the quality of her provision well to ensure continuous improvement, for example, by observing children's interest and by adapting her practice to meet their individual needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder promotes children's learning and development well. She uses effective communication and questioning skills to encourage children to investigate and try new things. Consequently, children of all ages make good progress. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to explore the world around them and develop their early literacy skills, particularly through stories. For example, when reading a book chosen by the children written in Hebrew, she explains how the text is read from right to left. This helps to broaden children's awareness and respect for other cultures and beliefs. Children independently select from a range of resources, hence create their own learning opportunities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder uses clear and consistent methods to manage children's behaviour. Children benefit from outdoor play and exercise, which helps to develop their physical skills and promote good health. They regularly enjoy outings to the park, zoo and library to widen their experiences and learn about their local environment. The childminder effectively promotes children's independence skills and their awareness of healthy practices, particularly during personal care routines. Children learn about being safe and take age-appropriate risks during play. For example, when taking the children into the communal garden, the childminder encourages children of all ages to explore while playing 'hide and seek'. Children develop close attachments with the childminder due to the quality time and praise she offers; therefore, they feel safe and secure.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are attentive listeners; they are making effective progress in their learning and development. For example, they listen well to instructions and share with others. Hence, they are developing the necessary skills to help prepare them for the next stage in their learning.
