p.1

This provision is outstanding

 The quality of teaching is outstanding. The childminder provides an exceptional range of high-quality learning experiences, both indoors and outdoors. Therefore, children are highly motivated, eager to explore and develop a real thirst for learning. They are very well prepared for school.  The childminder has an extremely good knowledge of all children's progress. She observes and assesses children's learning very accurately and plans their next steps in learning extremely well. As a result, all children progress rapidly.  Children form exceptional relationships with the childminder. This allows them to feel safe and develop their confidence as learners.  There are highly effective systems to evaluate and monitor the provision to drive improvement. The childminder has an extremely positive attitude to professional development to enhance her exemplary understanding of the requirements and excellent practice.

p.1

This provision is outstanding

 The childminder frequently plans trips and excursions to places of interest. This allows children to experience the wider world and to develop their social and communication skills extremely well.  The childminder has excellent knowledge of child protection issues and of how to recognise the signs that a child may be at risk of harm. She takes all the necessary steps to make sure children remain safe in her care.  Children are extremely well behaved, caring and polite. They demonstrate good social skills as the childminder supports them in their play with others.

who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder has excellent communication and interaction skills. She communicates very well with children and offers explanations, praise and encouragement to motivate children to learn. Children enjoy a broad range of activities. Children freely choose to play indoors or outdoors and pursue their own interests. For example, children play outdoors with water, filling, emptying, pouring, looking at the flow of the water and spilling as they explore its properties. Therefore, children develop an excellent understanding of how things work and happen. The childminder is fully aware of some children's preference for learning outside and so is developing this area. However, this means that the outdoor environment is currently not quite as inspiring as the provision offered indoors. Parents receive precise assessments of their children's learning and know what to do to support them to develop further because the childminder is an effective communicator. As a result,

all children make excellent progress in their learning overall. Close relationships with families help children to settle quickly and the childminder uses diaries highly effectively to involve parents in their children's learning. The childminder provides an excellent range of experiences and resources for the children. These are used effectively so that children make excellent progress in all areas of learning, and are provided with the skills they need to prepare for school.

outstanding

The childminder creates a very welcoming, fun and friendly environment for children. She is an excellent role model. Children are encouraged to develop their physical skills both indoors, in the garden and in the local community. Independence and self-confidence is carefully encouraged in all that children do. Children learn about safe behaviour and how they can help to maintain their own safety. The childminder plans healthy snacks and promotes healthy eating. Children can identify their personal drinking cups. They confidently and safely peel and chop their own banana at snack time. The childminder also models good hygiene practices. Children are developing an excellent understanding of how to manage their own safety and have a healthy lifestyle.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has an excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She monitors children's progress exceptionally well so that children gain the highest levels of achievement. Parents' and children's views are sought through discussion and questionnaires. The childminder continually assesses how to improve, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining her outstanding practice. The childminder is part of a selected local network of childminders who meet together with their minded children for support. They also have separate meetings to discuss their practice and share development and training ideas. This helps the childminder keep her knowledge fully up to date and to provide high-quality care and learning for children.
