This provision is good
The childminder has taken the required action to significantly raise standards since her last inspection. The environment is safe and suitable for childcare use. The childminder has a good understanding of the statutory requirements. She has reviewed and updated her policies and procedures to ensure that children's welfare and safety is promoted. The well-qualified childminder has a good understanding of the different ways that children learn. She uses this knowledge to provide children with a stimulating environment and good quality learning experiences. Children's emotional well-being is assured. The childminder gives appropriate praise and encouragement to children at all times. Children's physical development is promoted well. They have opportunities to run around and be more active while they play in the garden.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always make good use of the information that she gathers from parents to make very precise assessments of children's communication and language development. On occasions, children are not given the time that they need to think and then respond to questions that the childminder asks.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

make better use of information parents provide about children's development of their home language and make the assessment of children's communication and language skills even more precise give children enough time to think and then respond to questions.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation with regards to children's learning, welfare and safety. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector spoke with the childminder, children and two co-childminders.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has begun to successfully use methods to evaluate and monitor her overall performance. She works closely with her co-childminders to make changes where improvements are required. This includes discussing and evaluating teaching. The childminder communicates clearly with the children. However, on some occasions she does not wait for the children to answer when asking them questions. Partnership work with other professionals has had a positive impact on the provision. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands her responsibilities to take appropriate action if a child is at risk of harm. The childminder is well qualified and she continues to undertake training that strengthens her work with children and families. She builds good relationships with parents so that they readily share information about children's home life. This helps to promote consistency in care and learning. Children

enjoy regular trips and outings. They have good opportunities to learn about the wider world around them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. Children are confident enough to stand up and sing to their friends. The childminder praises them for having a go. All children who attend speak English as an additional language. The childminder reassures children when they first start because she speaks to them in their home language. Children quickly gain skills in speaking and understanding English. The childminder is very skilled at teaching in both languages. She gathers information about children's starting points and uses this information to help identify next steps for learning. However, she does not always monitor as precisely, the progress that children are making in communication and language. Parents are provided with a folder that contains detailed information about the good progress that children are making at the provision.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are developing the key skills that they require to help get them ready for school. The childminder teaches children to listen to instructions and to be attentive during group activities. Children are beginning to understand the importance of taking turns and sharing. They quickly settle to self-chosen activities. Older children are encouraged to be more independent. They take their own coats off and wash their hands when coming in from playing outside. At story time the childminder uses a familiar book. She helps the children to learn to respect each other's similarities and differences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder ensures that all groups of children, including those who received funded early years education benefit from a stimulating educational curriculum.
