This provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She uses this knowledge and her training to ensure there are well- planned activities to help children make good progress in their learning and meet their individual needs. The childminder works closely with the local authority and professionals to provide specialist care and learning for children and their parents and carers. This ensures that children are settled and supports their emotional well-being very well. The childminder provides a well-organised learning environment, which encourages children's independent choices. There has been good improvement in this area since the last inspection. There is good communication between the childminder, the co-childminder and their assistant to monitor children's progress effectively. They work well together to identify actions for improvement, such as the outdoor space and the teaching of forestry skills.
p.1
This provision is good
Children's safety is of a high priority. The childminder completes rigorous risk assessments to ensure children's well-being. She provides clear explanations to children, such as why they cannot use the trampoline.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not always provide clear guidance to her assistant to support consistent teaching skills to build on children's language skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
provide further coaching and guidance to extend the assistant's skills to maintain consistently strong teaching.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children playing inside and outdoors. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector considered the written views of parents, other early years settings and professionals. The inspector spoke with the childminder and her assistant at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including self-evaluation and learning diaries.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder provides a safe and secure environment where children are able to take risks under close supervision. She helps children learn about safe practices. For example, she provides clear explanations as to why it is important to hold marbles when they are not in use to avoid choking hazards for younger children. The childminder uses good recruitment systems to ensure the assistant is suitable for her role. The childminder uses self-evaluation effectively to drive improvement. The childminder has a positive attitude to training. This is particularly evident in the courses she attends to support children's personal, social and emotional development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her observations and robust assessments to identify children's next steps. She plans an exciting range of experiences to help children progress in all areas of their learning. She accurately identifies children's individual needs to ensure prompt referrals to professionals. The childminder invites contributions from parents and uses this information to plan for children's future development. The childminder and her assistant are patient when listening to children and value their thoughts, ideas and note their interests. They repeat language well and provide specific words to build children's vocabulary. Children create imaginatively; they selected materials independently to create robots and thoroughly enjoyed making marks with conkers in the paint.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form strong attachments with the childminder and her assistant. They happily explore the environment and confidently follow familiar routines, such as removing their shoes and hanging up their coats. Children have a good sense of belonging. The childminder takes time to celebrate children's achievements, such as using a 'wow' star for counting and recognising numbers to 10. Children showed pride in their achievements and displayed it on the board for all to see. Children are aware of their own needs. When they are hungry they visit the snack table and enjoy a healthy snack. Mealtimes are a sociable occasion where children and adults sit together. Children learn independence skills, such as pouring their drinks and learning to feed themselves in preparation for their next stage in learning. Care practices meet children's needs well and provide support for children's developing understanding of hygienic and safe practices.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development through effective interactions from the childminder and her assistant. Children learn good communication and language skills overall, which prepares them well for their next steps. Children's social skills develop well; they understand expectations and thrive in loving relationships.
