p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The qualified childminder has an extremely strong commitment to providing high-quality provision and has very high expectations for children. She continually observes and assesses children's learning to plan enjoyable, challenging experiences that help all children make very good progress. The childminder constantly updates her knowledge and skills to help her improve her provision to benefit children. She meets with parents to discuss new practices to successfully involve them in supporting children at home. For example, she explained to parents the importance of using the correct pronunciation of words when talking with children. The childminder works exceptionally well with other early years settings to ensure continuity for children's care and learning. Safeguarding is effective. Children receive very good support to teach them how to keep safe and healthy.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder uses her excellent knowledge of how children learn to provide rich, varied and stimulating play experiences. Children engage in purposeful play that promotes their active learning extremely well. The childminder constantly models language to build on younger children's vocabularies and they babble in response. She skilfully questions older children as they use their imagination to make pretend meals, to help them develop their thinking skills. The childminder adapts the play activities exceptionally well to support children's learning further. For example, she asks children to count how many eggs they have and how many are left when one is taken away. She promotes children's understanding of numbers and teaches them to solve problems very successfully. Children enjoy looking at books with the childminder. She is very animated and captivates children's interests, and they eagerly turn the pages to see what is on the next page.

p.3

Children benefit enormously from the welcoming and nurturing environment. They show high levels of confidence as they independently select their play activities from the broad range of toys and resources. Children demonstrate positive behaviour. The childminder teaches children to listen to each other and to respect the opinions of others, ensuring all children are valued. She does not always make full use of opportunities to promote discussions about children's families and home lives, to help them learn about differences and similarities. Children enjoy challenging physical play activities in the garden. They learn to take risks as they climb and balance on the play equipment, reassured that the childminder is close by. Children gain confidence in their abilities.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children's language and physical, personal, social and emotional development are extremely well supported. Children acquire excellent foundations for their future learning.
