The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed a planned activity and jointly discussed this with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's assessment records, a selection of policies, safety procedures and required documentation. Older children use complex sentences to clearly express their thoughts and feelings. The childminder's infectious sense of fun and skilful use of spontaneous events highly motivate children to learn. Children discover a spider on the window and the childminder encourages them to observe it further and show care and concern for living things. Rich and varied opportunities within the childminder's home and within the local community help children gain an excellent understanding of differences between themselves and others. For example, children thoroughly enjoy taking part in an

Children's work is beautifully presented in the highly stimulating indoor and outdoor areas. Children settle exceptionally quickly. The childminder visits children in their own homes to begin building secure relationships from a very early stage. Parents also visit the childminder's home over a long period of time prior to their children starting. Children behave exceptionally well and demonstrate kind and secure relationships with each other. They explore how their voices change as they take it in turns to make sounds with their mouths down a long cardboard tube. Children have superb opportunities to take part in physical exercise in the fresh air.
