This provision is good
The childminder plans challenging activities based on children's individual interests and needs. She evaluates these experiences and monitors children's progress to help them make rapid progress in their learning. The childminder uses observations well to make sure she is giving an appropriate level of challenge in children's activities. She effectively questions children during conversations to encourage their thinking as they learn. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder uses effective two-way information sharing practices to foster a shared approach to children's care and learning. The childminder is well qualified and undertakes regular professional development activities. This helps her to identify and drive forward areas for improvement so that children make good progress. Children form secure bonds and attachments with the childminder and their peers. A warm and welcoming environment is provided where children's well-being is promoted.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held a meeting with the childminder. He looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers present during the inspection, and also from information included in the childminder's own survey.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of her responsibilities and a commitment to safeguarding children. She undertakes routine risk assessments of her home and garden and for any outings children participate in, helping her to consistently provide a safe environment for children. The childminder uses self-evaluation to reflect on her practice and provision. She attends training courses to strengthen and update her understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements, and keeps up to date with any changes by using information provided by the local authority and childcare organisations. The childminder constantly improves the learning outcomes for children. For example, she receives feedback from parents through questionnaires and implements any suggestions they make.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn through play, and regularly observes children and plans for their good progress. She provides a range of adult-led and child-initiated activities that take account of children's interests. However, the childminder does not always encourage children to persist in tasks before moving on to another. The childminder's good interaction with the children supports their emerging language and communication skills. Children enjoy conversations, which help them to make connections with their families. Children take part in role play, share dolls and learn how to care for living creatures. Young children begin to learn how to operate simple toys, knowing which buttons to press to make toys speak, and which ones play music.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is very caring and nurturing towards the children. They have formed secure emotional attachments with her and enjoy cuddles during their play. Children are well behaved and share toys with each other. They explore their surroundings with confidence and have access to good quality resources. Meals and snacks provided for children are freshly cooked each day. The childminder works closely with parents to ensure that children's individual dietary needs are reviewed regularly. Children enjoy playing in the garden, where they develop their physical skills and benefit from fresh air.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress, given their starting points and capabilities. The childminder promotes their confidence, independence and communication skills effectively. This means that they are equipped with the skills needed for their future learning.
