This provision is good
The quality of teaching is strong. The childminder assesses and monitors children's learning and development across all areas. She uses this information to plan and extend children's learning effectively. As a result, children make good progress. Children build good attachments with the childminder. They are happy and confident and settle quickly when they first start because they feel safe and secure. Children meet and learn to play cooperatively with other children when the childminder takes them to parks and various groups. Therefore, they have good opportunities to develop their social skills. The childminder evaluates to identify areas of her practice and activities to improve further. She seeks the views of parents to make sure her service meets the individual children's needs. Consequently, the childminder promotes good quality care and outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not give children varied experiences to learn, practise and explore technology in all aspects of their learning. The childminder sometimes over directs the activities she plans for children's creativity. Consequently, they do not always have the opportunity to use creative resources independently to express their ideas and gain a sense of achievement.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector read written comments from parents to gather and consider their views. The inspector spoke to the childminder to check her understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and carried out a joint observation with her. The inspector observed the childminder's interaction with children. The inspector toured the areas of the premises that children use. The inspector sampled some documentation, including the childminder's policies and other records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is well organised and manages her business effectively. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She knows how to identify and report any concerns about children's welfare. The childminder checks the areas that children use to make sure they remain safe and suitable. She practises emergency evacuation procedures with children to help them to become familiar with routines that keep them safe. The childminder carries out ongoing training and updates her knowledge of changes by reading and seeking advice from other childminders. She builds strong relationships with parents and the other settings that children attend. This shared approach ensures children receive continuity in their care and learning, and ensures all those involved in their care identify and help to close any gaps in children's learning quickly in preparation for school.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has high expectations of what children can achieve. She provides stimulating activities that are interesting and children enjoy. The childminder talks to children to help them build on their existing language. She asks them questions to further develop their thinking skills. Children learn activities that promote their early literacy skills. They enjoy drawing, writing and stories; the childminder helps them to recognise letters and their names. She helps children to develop their physical skills. They shape playdough, which helps develop their small muscles and use apparatus in parks to develop their large muscles. The childminder promotes children's early mathematical skills alongside their play. Children learn about cultures that are different from their own. They take part in activities that build on their understanding of different traditions and festivals that people in the community celebrate.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to manage their behaviour. She reminds children to be well-mannered, share and take turns. As a result, children behave well. The childminder encourages children's independence. They learn to eat by themselves, to make healthy food choices and to take regular drinks. Children carry out personal care routines, such as washing their hands and practise getting dressed in preparation for going to pre-school and school. The children learn a range of skills, which prepares them well for future learning. In addition, younger children go with the childminder to pick up older children from school; this helps them to become familiar with teachers and the schools that they will attend.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
