This provision is good
The childminder is well organised. She has a professional, caring approach and is motivated to continually develop her skills. For instance, since the last inspection she has reviewed how she plans activities around children's individual needs. This has a positive impact on children's care and learning experiences. The environment is safe and welcoming. For example, children can make easy choices from the good variety of resources and play materials. Children have positive relationships with the childminder. They are happy and settled in her care. This promotes their emotional well-being. The childminder plans a wide variety of interesting activities and experiences for children, based on her observations of their interests and needs. This helps children make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder works closely with parents and keeps them well informed. She shares information with them on a daily basis. Parents have constant access to their child's

records and assessments. This helps involve parents in their child's learning.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not fully gather and use the views of parents and children to help identify areas for improvement. The childminder has not fully extended all opportunities for younger children to develop their understanding of mathematics.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children taking part in activities indoors and outdoors. The inspector had discussions with the childminder throughout the inspection about her practice and about children's learning and development. The inspector sampled paperwork including children's records, and policies and procedures. The inspector looked around the areas of the childminder's home used by children. The inspector spoke to a parent and read parents' letters and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed child protection training and confidently knows what to do if she has concerns about a child's welfare. She keeps all relevant records well organised and up to date. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively through observation and assessment. She works closely in partnership with other settings that children attend. As a result, children benefit from a consistent approach that promotes their learning well. The childminder makes use of local courses to develop her skills. For example, she found a course useful to reflect on the environment she offers children. This helped her review how she organises and uses the available space to benefit children. Comments from parents show that they value the childminder very highly. They particularly appreciate her warm, approachable personality. They are confident that their child is safe and well cared for.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder finds out as much as possible about children before they start and works closely with parents to meet their needs. She gets to know children well. She skilfully adapts activities and provides effective support so that all children can join in. For example, younger children helped mix ingredients in a small bowl and 'grated' toy carrots while older children helped make lunch. The childminder builds on children's interests well and, as a result, they are keen to learn. For example, children enjoyed making their own curds and whey based on their favourite nursery rhyme. The childminder talks to children as they play. She asks questions and encourages conversations. This effectively promotes children's communication and language skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder offers children gentle guidance and reassurance. This helps children feel secure and they behave well. Children quickly learn good practices that help them keep healthy and safe. For example, they remember to zip up the trampoline net around the trampoline when they use it. They understand why they need to wash their hands before they eat. Children enjoy choosing fruit at snack time, as part of a healthy lifestyle. The childminder helps children learn about the wider world, for example, by finding out about each other's lives and backgrounds. The childminder acts as a good role model so that children learn to treat each other with respect.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress based on their starting points. They learn a variety of useful skills that prepare them effectively for the next stage of their learning and for school. For example, they grow in independence when they select toys or find their shoes to go outside.
