This provision is outstanding

 The childminder is extremely passionate about her work and has an excellent understanding of the learning and development requirements. She plans a wide range of interesting activities based on children's interests. From a very young age, children become highly confident and active learners.  The childminder uses her superb communication and language skills to engage young children. She consistently models language and seizes every opportunity to build on children's vocabulary. This effectively encourages the children's exploration of early sounds and words they can use to express themselves.  Children have a tremendous time exploring and leading their own play in the beautifully presented, dedicated playrooms. They have a vast range of toys and resources to choose from which are all carefully presented to allow children maximum independence as they make choices.  Children's well-being is given high priority. Young children settle extremely well under

the childminder's sensitive and attentive care. They are exceptionally secure and happy which results in them being curious and inquisitive learners.  All partnerships in place are firmly established and provide a strong contribution to children's care and development. Excellent information sharing between the childminder and parents, as well as other early years providers the children attend, creates a collaborative approach to ensuring children's needs are well known and extremely well met.  The childminder establishes a very successful and effective working partnership with her assistant. She provides regular support and mentoring including regular performance management to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed teaching and the impact this had on children's learning during freely chosen play, planned activities and during snack time.  The inspector spoke to the childminder, her assistant and children at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder and assessed the accuracy of her evaluation.  The inspector viewed children's records, planning documentation and a range of other documentation, including policies, procedures and the self-evaluation document.  The inspector took account of the views of parents from questionnaires and from the letters left for the inspector.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistant are very clear on the procedure to follow in reporting concerns about the welfare of a child in their care. The childminder is committed to maintaining her outstanding practice and achieves this through highly effective, on-going professional development. For example, since the last inspection, the childminder has completed a degree in early years practice. She uses her skills, knowledge and understanding to promote children's learning exceptionally well. The childminder's highly reflective and consistent evaluation of her practice means she is very effective in identifying areas for improvement, with targeted plans and ideas to address them. The childminder has a firm understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and provides children with rich educational experiences across all areas of learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children have a wonderful time as they lead their own play and are entirely supported to explore their ideas as far as possible. The childminder joins in sensitively with their play, effectively posing appropriate questions and re-shaping activities where appropriate, to help children achieve their full learning potential. For example, children enjoy using some jewelled scarves to explore the way these move and the noise they make. The childminder shows the children other ways to use the scarves and includes a song with different actions for children to move to. Children have a superb time and squeal with delight. They wiggle, jump and stretch as they perform the actions to the song which supports children's physical skills as well as their listening and attention skills. Children use their imaginative skills and enjoy acting out storylines. Children enjoy exploring the range of technology based resources. However, the childminder has not yet extended the range of

opportunities to explore the technology she offers to develop this interest further.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is highly skilled at ensuring all children form secure attachments and places the highest priority on supporting children's emotional and physical well-being. From a young age, children learn to communicate their feelings and learn that their opinions are important. This has a significant impact on children's confidence and self- esteem. Very young children begin to understand rules regarding behaviour and how to play cooperatively. This is supported by the childminder who offers age appropriate explanations to help children understand the expectations placed upon them. Children gain a deep understanding of safety and managing risks through real-life experiences and novel activities. They use a range of tools safely and learn about fire safety during role- play scenarios. Children enjoy learning about healthy lifestyles. They have a wonderful time preparing their own snacks and talking about the benefits of good food choices.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make excellent progress in their learning. They are keen and motivated learners. Children thoroughly enjoy being independent at every opportunity and are extremely well prepared for future learning, including school.
