This provision is good
The manager shows a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children. She is creative in adapting the environment to meet individual children's needs and to support their developing skills. Staff build effective relationships with parents. Parents feel well informed about their children's progress. Children are making good progress in their learning and development. Staff accurately observe and assess children's progress, by planning next steps which are specific for individual children's needs. Exceptionally warm and secure attachments are formed between children and staff. Staff are very nurturing and children show that they feel secure and happy in the pre- school. Staff demonstrate a skilful use of vocabulary to develop and extend children's understanding, listening and speaking skills. Staff provide clear guidance and consistent boundaries to manage children's behaviour sensitively. They acknowledge children's efforts and achievements, promoting their self-

Inspection activities
The inspector observed staff's teaching and children's learning both inside and outdoors. The inspector spoke to members of staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection and held a meeting with manager of the provision. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day and from information provided by the setting. The inspector looked at a selection of children's records, planning documentation, evidence of the suitability of staff working in the provision and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding arrangements are effective. Children are safeguarded well. The manager and staff have a secure knowledge and understanding of the procedures to follow should they have concerns about a child. Safeguarding training is regularly updated and many staff are trained in paediatric first aid. The manager and senior staff have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements and they implement them effectively. The well-qualified staff attend relevant training to improve and develop their knowledge and skills. Planning includes details of the day-to-day provision, children's interests and next steps in learning. The manager observes staff practice and regular supervision meetings provide opportunities to discuss strengths and areas for improvement. Partnerships with parents are good. Parents praise the care the staff give to their children and value the regular feedback given on their child's progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The learning environment is welcoming and stimulating and set up to enable children to choose resources independently. Children engage well in a range of activities, such as, role play, small-world play and mark making. The outdoor area is used successfully for a range of play activities and children are physically active. Children enjoy being creative and become deeply engrossed in their play. Younger children are highly engaged as they mix different coloured paint into the shaving foam and explore the texture of this with their hands. This level of activity, however, does not sufficiently challenge and engage the older and more-able children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff have a very good knowledge and understanding of children's individual needs. This supports children very well in settling into the pre-school. Effective care arrangements support children's well-being and they quickly establish secure relationships with their key person and others. Staff make good use of everyday routines to help children to develop their independence. Children are actively involved in tasks, such as washing up the cups after snack time. Children understand what is expected of them. They behave well and staff very calmly support children in sharing resources and taking turns in activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress given their varying starting points. They gain the necessary skills and attitudes to be ready for school. Older children take on age-appropriate tasks, such as independently putting on their shoes and coats to go outside.
