Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder implements appropriate safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures. She undertakes safeguarding training to enhance her understanding and to keep up to date with her childminding responsibilities. She is well aware of how to recognise the possible signs and symptoms that give cause for concern about a child's welfare. She is aware of the procedures to record and report such concerns. The childminder has a range of policies and procedures to ensure a smooth and effective practice that benefits the children and their families. The childminder monitors children's progress well. She evaluates her practice effectively. As a result, the childminder identifies her professional needs and undertakes suitable training to extend her knowledge and understanding.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a range of interesting resources and opportunities for the children. These activities help children to progress well with their physical, personal, social and emotional development. In addition, the childminder uses questioning to engage the children and to extend their ability to communicate effectively. The childminder provides opportunities for the children's imaginative play; for example, by providing a range of resources to encourage role play about the fire service, the police and doctors. Children learn that families differ and that they celebrate a variety of festivals. This helps them learn to be tolerant. Children enjoy exploring a range of technology resources. Children develop their understanding of mathematics during everyday tasks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children display a sense of belonging as they confidently move around to choose their play. Children form close friendships with others and develop their social skills as they play with each other. They learn to listen, to share and to respect others. The childminder is a positive role model for their behaviour. Children know what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Children learn how to take care of their toys, such as when they help the childminder with tidying up. The childminder ensures effective safety checks are completed to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for the children to play safely. She helps them learn about healthy lifestyles.
p.3
