These opportunities support children effectively in developing their concentration, number skills, hand-to-eye coordination and language development. The childminder uses effective teaching strategies, such as explaining and demonstrating how to construct with materials, helping children to build on previous learning. She works well with parents, talking to them on a daily basis about their children's progress and making suggestions to support their development at home. The childminder exchanges some limited information through discussion with professionals at other settings, working together to support children's development in some areas.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children develop positive social skills under the childminder's care, such as taking turns and persisting with challenges. They learn to be respectful towards others as the childminder encourages them to express themselves and listen to each other. The childminder promotes different cultures positively to help children learn about people who are different from themselves. Children develop a positive approach to healthy lifestyles as the childminder promotes good hygiene and helps them to find out where healthy food comes from. Children develop a good awareness of safety, such as recognising their limitations on physical play equipment.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good
