She plans interesting and challenging activities that interest and excite children, who show clear delight in their learning.  Partnerships with parents and other settings are highly effective. The childminder provides activity bags and ideas for parents to share with children at home, which helps to extend their learning further.  Comprehensive and accurate assessment, planning and observations shows children are making excellent progress in all areas of their learning.  Children are confident learners, who are independent and allowed to manage their own risks in the safety of the childminder's care. She helps to prepare children exceptionally

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 strengthen the arrangements for involving all parents and significant people in children's lives to promote children's learning even further.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the childminder engaging with children in a range of activities.  The inspector held discussions with the childminder and engaged with children at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector looked at documentation, including a selection of policies and procedures, and children's records.  The inspector took into account the written feedback from parents.  The inspector checked evidence of the suitability and the qualifications of the childminder.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

There are highly effective systems for evaluating and monitoring all aspects of the childminder's practice and clear plans for continuous improvement. The childminder has excellent partnerships with parents; however, she recognises she could do more to involve the significant people in children's lives in the care and learning she provides. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of child protection and knows how to respond to any concern about children's welfare. The childminder has built upon her own professional development since her last inspection, by completing an early years qualification and has met the recommendations raised. She makes many of her own resources, which she uses with the children to extend all areas of their learning. Her enthusiastic approach to childminding and expertise has an extremely positive impact on the excellent quality of care and education she provides.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children are motivated and enthusiastic learners. This is because the childminder listens to their interests and uses this knowledge to plan exciting activities. The children excitedly join in with these. For example, children giggle with delight when experimenting with torches and monkey silhouettes, to create shadows on the wall. The childminder extends this further by using the sun to create shadows outside and then discussing size and distance. The childminder gathers precise information about children's achievements from parents and her observations. This information helps her plan and identify what children can do next and is shared with parents who can add their observations too.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are confident. The childminder promotes their welfare and emotional well-being exceptionally well. She places a very high focus on developing children's independence throughout all routines and activities. For example, she actively encourages children to use a knife to butter their crackers, pull on their own socks and open challenging containers. The childminder promptly acknowledges and praises children's efforts. The childminder provides children with healthy meals and snacks. She works with parents and teaches children about healthy eating and making healthy choices. Children develop good physical skills through a variety of activities in the garden, local parks, the beach and interesting places both within and outside the local community.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

The quality of teaching highly motivates children who are keen to join in activities. Children are extremely well prepared for the next stage in their learning and are active, interested and motivated learners.
