This provision is good
The childminder works very well with other professionals who are involved in supporting children. This helps to create consistency in meeting the care and learning needs of children. The childminder supports disabled children and those with special educational needs particularly well. This helps to ensure children receive the care and support they need. The childminder has built good relationships with parents. She effectively and sensitively shares information with parents when she has concerns about children's progress in their learning and development. This helps parents and the childminder to work together to enhance children's learning and development. The childminder effectively supports children's communication and language skills. This helps children to talk confidently, listen, understand and follow instructions. The childminder effectively builds children's confidence and self-esteem, and values

what they say. This supports children to feel safe and secure.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always find out as much as possible from parents about what their child can do when they first start to attend her setting. The monitoring of children's progress in their learning and development is not yet highly effective.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

find out more from parents at the start of placement about what children already know and can do enhance the monitoring of children's progress across all seven areas of learning to target support to help children make best possible progress.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times and discussed self- evaluation. The inspector considered the views of parents and children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage provided by the childminder. The inspector checked the suitability of the childminder and other adults in the household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has recently undertaken safeguarding training to help her in keeping her knowledge up to date. She understands the possible indicators of abuse and how to respond if a concern arises about a child. This helps to keep children safe. The childminder knows individual children well and teaches them effectively so that they develop a range of skills. However, the monitoring of children's progress across the seven areas of learning is not yet highly effective to ensure that all children are consistently making the best possible progress. The childminder has a positive attitude to reflecting and improving upon her practice and undertakes professional development. This helps her to ensure she continues to meet the needs of the children and families who attend.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers good information from parents about children's care needs when children first start to attend. This supports her in helping children to settle easily into her care. However, she does not gather enough information from parent's about children's existing knowledge and skills to enable her to plan challenging experiences right from the start. The childminder effectively supports children's physical skills. This helps children to be able to show control in holding and using small objects. The childminder effectively supports children's mathematical development. This helps children to become confident in counting the objects they are using. The childminder effectively supports children's understanding of the world around them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder creates a safe and stimulating environment for children. This helps to build children's concentration and motivation in their chosen activities. The childminder effectively supports children's understanding of safety. This helps children to think about how they can create a safe place to play. The childminder is warm, kind and caring towards the children. This supports children to be emotionally secure and happy in her care. The childminder effectively meets children's care needs. This aids children's physical well-being. Children behave well because the childminder sets clear expectations of acceptable behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder effectively supports children to make good progress in their learning and development from their starting points. The childminder is a good teacher who helps children to acquire the key skills required for their next stage in learning. The good support offered by the childminder means gaps in children's learning are closing.
