Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas of the childminder's home and garden used for childminding. The inspector observed interactions between the childminder, her assistant and children during play, both inside and outdoors. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her assistant and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at documentation, including risk assessments and a range of policies and procedures. She checked evidence of suitability of the childminder and her assistants. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection and the written comments of parents of children attending the setting. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is very knowledgeable about the procedures she must follow in the event of a concern. Robust risk assessments support her in maintaining a safe and secure environment, both inside and outside the home. Children take risks according to their age and ability. For example, older children enjoy using rope and tyre swings whilst younger children delight in playing in the pirate ship. They understand the rules for keeping safe. For example, children know that they must wear cycle helmets when riding bikes. The childminder delivers the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage to an outstanding level within her home environment. She ensures that policies and procedures are updated regularly, taking into account any changes in legislation and information from her training. Organisation of the service is outstanding. The childminder has a clear sense of purpose and commitment to continually

improve the already exceptional quality of her setting. For example, following her recent house move she recognises that this has given her the opportunity to further develop the extensive garden area.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder's teaching is highly responsive to children's interests. Children eagerly choose what they would like from the excellent range of resources. For example, children build towers with a wide variety of toy bricks, confidently counting together and discussing the different shapes and sizes. The childminder uses every opportunity to build on their knowledge and develop their language by introducing new words such as hexagon. Children enjoy one-to-one support from the childminder as they cuddle up for a story. Older, more-able children are supported to recognise the letters in their name. Assessment of progress is rigorous. This helps swiftly identify any gaps in learning to ensure all children continue to make outstanding progress. The childminder supervises her assistants well and develops their skills through a combination of training and coaching.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children's well-being is given very high priority and individual routines are strictly followed. The childminder promotes children's understanding of healthy lifestyles. She encourages children to learn about the importance of handwashing and how to keep safe. The childminder prepares children exceptionally well for starting school. She knows the essential skills they require to adjust to the move and ensures that she teaches them to be independent and resilient. Parents speak of the consistently high standards provided by the childminder and say their children love coming to the setting.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make exceptional progress. Children enjoy the extremely well-planned activities based around their interests and experiences. Children paint with brushes which they then develop into finger and hand painting. Younger children take great delight in smearing the paint over their arms and on to paper plates. Such activities encourage them to be highly motivated and enthusiastic learners.
