Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities and the childminder's interactions with the children.  The inspector looked at a sample of relevant documentation, including children's records.  The inspector held discussions with the childminder about her practice.  The inspector reviewed parents' feedback by sampling written documents.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder is experienced and has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. Consequently, this has a positive impact on the overall effectiveness of her practice. The childminder has developed her practice well since her last inspection and addressed the recommendations made. For example, she has reviewed the organisation of some resources to enable children to benefit fully from using these. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibility to meet the safeguarding and welfare requirements. She knows what to do should she have a child protection concern about a child in her care. The childminder evaluates her practice well and monitors her educational programmes effectively to ensure that any identified gaps in children's learning are narrowing.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder promotes children's learning and development needs well. She uses good processes for assessing children's progress and ensures her planning covers all aspects of learning. As a result, children are fully engaged in purposeful play and make good progress in their learning and development from their capabilities and interests on entry. The childminder promotes babies' language and communication skills effectively to help them progress to become confident talkers. For example, she extends children's vocabulary by talking to them about what they are doing as they play. She responds well to their babbles, which encourages them to communicate. The childminder promotes babies' physical skills well. For example, she provides activities on the floor where babies hold musical instruments to make sounds and press buttons on electronic toys. They take pleasure in the lights and sounds they create, and move their bodies to the music.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is exceptionally caring towards the children and knows them particularly well. Consequently, children form strong emotional bonds with her. They approach her for cuddles and display a strong sense of belonging in the childminder's home. The childminder is an exceptionally good role model and teaches children to be kind, polite and use good manners. This helps children to behave extremely well as they learn to respect others and take account of their differences. The childminder teaches children about adopting healthy lifestyles exceedingly well. They enjoy healthy snacks and meals, and learn good hygiene routines from a young age, which develops their independence successfully. Furthermore, children display high levels of independence during activities, for example, as they choose from a wealth of high-quality resources.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children make good progress from their starting points, and are happy and confident learners. Younger children engage in activities well and are motivated to learn because the childminder offers challenging activities, which helps them to think and learn new skills.
