This provision is good
Children make good progress in their learning. This is because the childminder uses information from her observations and assessments well to plan for their next stage in development. The childminder gains key information from parents when children first start to help her meet their individual needs and interests. She uses this to help children settle in. Children build a positive view of themselves because the childminder provides them with praise and encouragement to build their self-esteem and confidence. This effectively supports their emotional well-being. The childminder completes thorough risk assessments to identify and minimise potential hazards. This helps children to be able to play safely in their surroundings. The childminder forms links with other providers children attend to provide a consistent approach to learning and care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not always have opportunities to explore and extend their learning using a wide range of natural materials and resources during their play. Children are not always able to make easy choices from the wide range of resources available. This means that, at these times, children are unable to fully develop their interests.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at various times throughout the inspection. The inspector toured all parts of the premises used for childminding. The inspector observed children engaged in activities. The inspector viewed a range of documentation, including the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector took into account the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of child protection and the procedures to follow if there are any concerns about a child's welfare. This helps keep children safe from harm. The childminder attends regular training to update her knowledge and skills. For example, she has recently completed a relevant childcare qualification at level 3. The childminder uses the views of children, parents and other professionals well to evaluate her service and provide better outcomes for children. She ensures she keeps up to date with current legislation. This reflects well in her practice. The childminder uses good systems to monitor children's progress. This helps her identify any gaps in development early and put the appropriate support in place.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder knows the individual children well and uses her knowledge to effectively promote their learning. She uses relevant experiences to promote their development further. For example, when children visit a farm, she provides activities and resources to suit their emerging interests. The childminder introduces a range of language suited to children's individual stage of development and asks questions to help them to think. This helps children be engaged and interested in their learning. The childminder shares regular information with parents about children's progress, including providing a written summary for children aged between two and three. As a result, parents are well informed and are able to continue their child's learning at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe and welcoming environment. As a result, children are happy and enjoy their time with the childminder. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, the childminder provides healthy options at mealtimes and daily opportunities for children to be physically active. Children learn how to keep themselves safe because the childminder practises regular fire drills and talks to them about safety outside the setting. The childminder takes children on regular outings to parks and groups. This helps them learn about the wider community and develop social skills. The childminder uses a range of resources and opportunities to help promote diversity. This helps children learn to value and accept each other's differences effectively.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress. They enjoy looking at pictures and make connections with the animals and their noises as they effectively develop their early literacy skills. Children progress in their physical and mathematical development well. They enjoy filling up and emptying containers as they learn about volume and size. Children are learning to be independent, which helps prepare them for their move to school or nursery.
