This provision is good
The childminder provides a warm, friendly and caring environment. Children enjoy their time with the childminder. She acts as a good role model to children. Children's behaviour is good because they are secure and confident in her care, and ready to learn. Partnerships with parents are very positive. Parents feel included and involved, and share their children's development at home with the childminder, who then plans further learning experiences for the children. This results in parents who are confident to trust the childminder with their children's care, learning and development. The childminder accurately assesses children's progress and plans games and activities based on their interests. She makes good use of routines, such as mealtimes, to prompt lively discussions, which promote children's communication skills. The childminder uses effective methods of self-evaluation and reflection to monitor the

quality of her practice and children's achievements. She has clear development plans to further improve her practice and ensure children continue to make good progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, the childminder does not teach children the sounds that make up words consistently well. This means she does not fully promote their early reading skills at such times.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children during their play, both inside and outside. The inspector sampled relevant documentation, including policies, self-evaluation and improvement plans, and children's records. The inspector took note of parents' and children's written views of the childminder and her practice. The inspector completed a joint observation and discussed observations and practice with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has addressed all previous recommendations, which has made a positive impact on her practice. The childminder has completed professional qualifications to develop her knowledge of how children learn and develop. This means she has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and how to best promote children's learning. Using views from parents and children, the childminder has developed priorities for further improvement. The childminder attends training to keep her practice current. Safeguarding is effective and the childminder has a good knowledge of how to keep children safe. For example, she regularly completes detailed risk assessments and acts promptly on any concerns to keep her house and garden safe. The childminder works with the local authority, local schools and other professionals to ensure children receive consistent care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. Children enjoy playing games with the childminder. For example, during a post box game, she skilfully engages the children in discussions about stamps and posting letters. This encourages further play ideas and children are motivated as they lead the childminder in their new game. The childminder offers a good range of activities and experiences for children, which cover all areas of learning and development. For example, children enthusiastically play with stones and water where they count, compare and measure volume. These kinds of activities promote their mathematical development well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy outings in the local area with the childminder and attend organised groups. Opportunities, such as these, help to develop their social skills and confidence, and help them to appreciate the diversity of today's wider world. Children enjoy being in the fresh air in the garden, where they practise their physical skills during a range of activities. Children like to feed the rabbits and grow sunflowers. These and other experiences help children to develop an understanding of the natural world. The childminder supports children to learn about healthy lifestyles and good hygiene through routines, such as hand washing.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and become independent in readiness for school. For example, they make choices about what activities they want to do and how to play games. They learn to recognise letters and numbers as they play and enjoy creative activities. Children, including those with special educational needs, enjoy a full range of experiences. Therefore, all children progress well and outcomes are good.
