This provision is good
The childminder is experienced and well qualified. She continuously develops her professional knowledge through the regular attendance of courses and with guidance provided by her local authority. The childminder effectively reviews the quality of her practice. She sets herself realistic targets that include the views of parents and children. The childminder understands how children learn. She makes accurate assessments of children and plans appropriate next steps for their learning, taking into account their interests and developmental stage. The childminder is a good role model. She promotes children's positive behaviour through regular praise and encouragement. Children play exceptionally well together. They learn to be tolerant of one another and to respect each other's differences. Children are confident and capable learners and make good progress from their initial starting points. They are fully prepared for the next stage in their learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this had on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's qualification and training certificates, and evidence of the suitability of adults living in the household. The inspector took account of the view of parents from conversations and written references.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a sound understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and implements them effectively. She has robust procedures to ensure that children are kept safe at all times. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of the procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. The childminder offers a comprehensive range of activities covering all areas of learning. Since her last inspection she has developed effective partnerships with other settings that children attend, which helps to promote consistency. Parents comment positively about the care and learning their children receive.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's teaching is good. Children enjoy learning and they show curiosity, motivation and engagement as they explore the variety of different opportunities available to them. Children have fun creating features for faces as they play with soft dough. The childminder introduces numbers to their play. Children laugh together as they count the eyes, noses and mouths they make for their faces. The childminder has a thorough understanding of the importance of supporting children's language and communication skills. She enthusiastically chats to children as they play, offering new words to extend their vocabulary. Children concentrate and take part in activities with enthusiasm. They enjoy singing songs together and listening to stories. The childminder establishes good overall partnerships with parents. She regularly shares details of children's progress. However, she does not always suggest ideas of how to continue children's learning at
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have developed a close relationship with the childminder, which helps them to be happy and settled in her care. She spends time with parents getting to know the children's daily routines so their move from home to her care is smooth. The childminder places a strong emphasis on children developing independence skills. They confidently put on their own coats and shoes when they want to play outside. The childminder encourages children of different ages to share toys and to be kind to one another. Children enjoy healthy snacks and meals, which helps to promote their growing awareness of good health. Children enjoy opportunities to explore the natural world and develop physically. They regularly spend time in the fresh air playing in the well-resourced garden. The childminder teaches children road safety as they walk to and from school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good and in some cases exceptional progress. Any gaps in children's learning are quickly closed through early identification and appropriate support. Children are developing a positive attitude towards their learning. This prepares them very well for their eventual move to school.
