The inspector looked at the areas of the home used for childminding. The inspector observed the childminder talking and playing with the children. The inspector looked at a sample of policies, children's learning records and checked evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder. The inspector discussed activities with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents expressed in their written responses.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder uses training to keep her knowledge of safeguarding up to date. This means she has an understanding of the most recent information on how to protect children from harm. The childminder constantly checks and assesses her work with the children. She continues to make improvements to support children's progress. The childminder understands and implements the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements well. She carefully checks children's progress through good observations and assessments. This means she is quickly able to identify any gaps in their learning and seek additional help if required. The childminder plans well for individual children's learning and development. She uses her good teaching skills to help children learn through activities and experiences that follow their ideas.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. At inspection, the childminder talked to the children during their play. She asked questions about the different small world play people and their jobs. The childminder helped children to think about how to build a town and to describe what they were doing. This ensures that children gain good language skills and start to solve problems for themselves. The childminder gave lots of encouragement to help children count and to identify different sizes. She fostered their imagination as they developed the game. The childminder provides lots of opportunities for children to play with natural resources and investigate the natural world. The childminder carefully supports the younger children well. She provides interesting resources and describes what they are doing while they play. She encouraged them to join in the singing activity with the older children. All the children were delighted with this activity and the younger
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides well-organised and welcoming play spaces. She has very close and warm relationships with all the children. She works closely with parents to follow younger children's individual routines. This means they are comfortable and secure in the childminder's home. The childminder supports children well to become confident and independent learners. She provides lots of outdoor learning and well-balanced diets, which promote children's good health and well-being. The childminder reminds children about the rules for using the large play equipment in the garden, which helps them learn how to keep themselves safe. The childminder supports children to manage their personal needs well. She ensures children learn to be polite and helpful to each other. The childminder's care emotionally prepares children well for the next stages in their learning.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children behave well and the childminder helps them to think about their own and other's feelings. Children make good progress from their starting points and gain the skills they need for moving on to pre-school or school.
