This provision is outstanding
Children are extremely well prepared for school or the next stage of their learning. The childminder has an excellent understanding of how children learn and the quality of her teaching is outstanding. She ensures a consistent approach to meeting children's individual learning needs is implemented and monitors children's progress. The childminder is well qualified and attends a wealth of relevant training. She reads information on different childcare subjects and organises training for other childcare professionals. This has a very positive impact on the quality of the provision overall. Children behave very well because the childminder sensitively supports them to understand rules and boundaries. Her home is exceptionally well organised with a highly stimulating, exciting learning environment both indoors and outdoors. Consequently, children play well together in a very social and calm environment.

The childminder has a strong commitment to working in partnership with parents and other professionals, such as the nursery and Reception class teachers. This effectively contributes to the high quality of children's care, learning and development. Safeguarding is central to the childminder's practice. Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to, and interacted with, the childminder, her co-childminder, and her assistant and children throughout the inspection. The inspector toured all the areas used for childminding. The inspector also conducted a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's qualifications, and evidence of the suitability of all adults living and working on the premises. The inspector looked at children's records and a range of other documentation, including policies, procedures, self-evaluation and plans for development. The inspector took account of the views of the parents through questionnaires and letters provided for the inspection.

who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder has an excellent understanding of how to promote children's learning through play. In-depth observations, personalised play plans and assessments are used to identify children's starting points, ongoing progress and next steps in learning. The childminder supports parents to actively contribute their observations to support her own observations. This ensures that each child is effectively challenged through a rich, varied and imaginative range of exciting activities. This contributes greatly to the exceptional progress children make. Children thrive and are stimulated to learn in this very welcoming, child-focused environment. The childminder excels at supporting children's early literacy skills. For example, children are animated and fully engrossed as they listen to a well- known story. The innovative co-childminder uses enthusiastic refrains in the story, that captivate and enthrall the children, inspiring their imaginations. Children develop their

understanding of mathematical concepts during their play. They show great interest in the outdoor mud kitchen as they mix in saucepans and fill bun trays. The childminder expertly promotes counting and the concept of measurement, as they talk about how many they are making. Children carefully watch different coloured tablets fizz away in the water, and become excited as the childminder skilfully supports them to recognise the colour. This shows that children have many playful opportunities to explore and investigate, which increases their interests and learning even further.

outstanding
The childminder nurtures children's personal, social and emotional development exceptionally well. She is an excellent role model and is patient and sensitive to children's needs. The childminder uses constant praise to encourage children, supporting their self- esteem and building their confidence. Her interactions are extremely warm, gentle and highly responsive. As a result, children develop secure, very strong and positive attachments with her and the adults working alongside her. This in turn motivates children to learn and confidently explore their environment. Children have full access to well- chosen and high-quality equipment inside and outside.

provision is outstanding
The childminder is highly successful in implementing the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. High priority is given to safeguarding. Robust policies and risk assessments ensure children are able to explore and play in a safe environment at all times. The childminder has completed the relevant checks on her qualified assistants; inductions and appraisal systems are in place. She regularly shares good practice with other childminders and her assistants. For example she organises training, staff meetings and meetings with other professionals, such as teachers at the local school. However, the childminder has not fully considered other ways to maximise this strong teamwork. For example, she has not asked childminding colleagues to observe and feedback on each other's practice so as to build on their already exceptional skills.
