This provision is good
The childminder completes accurate assessments of children's progress. This helps her to identify where support may be needed and to close any gaps in children's learning. The childminder acts as a good role model. She effectively manages children's behaviour and offers praise to reinforce their positive actions. This helps children to acquire the necessary skills to be ready for school and build their confidence and self- esteem. The childminder is caring, sensitive and skilled in helping children to feel settled and to form emotional attachments. This in turn helps to nurture their independence and overall well-being. The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and takes effective action to ensure that risks are minimised. This contributes towards children being safe and secure while in her care. The childminder provides children with enjoyable and interesting activities which

who attend. This is good
The childminder has a secure understanding of how children learn, and teaching is good. She listens attentively as children play and encourages them to talk about what they are doing. This effectively promotes children's communication and language skills. The childminder regularly observes children and then plans appropriate activities around their interests to meet their individual needs. She fulfils her responsibility for completing the progress check for children between the ages of two and three years. The childminder makes good use of questioning to encourage children to be active learners. Older children demonstrate good literacy skills as they spell and write their name. The childminder encourages children to count and discuss size and measure. This helps to support their understanding of mathematical skills concepts. Children show high levels of concentration throughout their activities as they are actively engaged and motivated in their play.

good
The childminder's home is safe and welcoming. Children demonstrate in their play that they are happy and feel welcome. They make their own choices about what they would like to do from the resources available in the dedicated playroom. The childminder encourages children to share and be kind. This helps them to develop positive attitudes to others. There are good settling-in procedures in place to ensure that children are supported well with their move from home. However, the information the childminder obtains from parents on entry is not always sufficient to further plan for children's learning from the start. Children help to prepare a healthy snack and are offered opportunities throughout the day to engage in physical play. This contributes towards their growing independence and understanding of a healthy lifestyle.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Detailed policies and procedures are successfully implemented to help promote a safe environment and to help protect children from harm. The childminder completes diaries for children and communicates daily with parents about their children's achievements. This helps to promote good partnerships with parents. The childminder evaluates her service, reflecting on her strengths and areas that she wants to further improve. She takes into account the views of parents and children. This helps the childminder to continuously improve the learning and care experiences she provides to children. The childminder holds a childcare qualification and has kept up to date with mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid. However, her professional development focuses on essential aspects of training, rather than being specifically targeted at developing first-rate teaching skills. The childminder

recognises the importance of working with local agencies and other professionals where children may need extra support to meet their individual needs. She has established links with the local school to further support children's learning and development.
