who attend. This is good

The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. She provides children with a good balance of child-initiated and adult-led experiences. She uses her observations to plan activities that challenge children's learning based on their interests. As a result, children are well prepared for their next stage in learning and their move on to nursery or school. The childminder supports children to reflect on previous experiences during activities to consolidate their learning. For example, children develop a good understanding of how to keep safe and healthy when collecting fruit. The childminder asks children challenging questions, which encourage them to think and answer; for example, as children looked for insects under logs. The childminder provides a variety of books to promote children's early literacy skills and encourage their early writing skills as they use a variety of different materials. She promotes children's mathematical

development well. For example, she asked children to compare different sized toys. The childminder is aware of how to support children who attend other settings. She understands the importance of working in partnerships to promote continuity in their learning.

good

The childminder works closely with parents to understand children's backgrounds and discuss how to best support their learning at home. Children develop good knowledge of how to keep themselves safe. For example, children understand to clear away toys when they have finished using them to prevent tripping hazards. The childminder is kind, caring and sensitive to children's individual needs. Children build secure emotional attachments with the childminder and are confident to seek her help and reassurance when needed. Children have ongoing access to the outdoor environment. This promotes their physical well-being, for example, as they use climbing equipment. The childminder encourages children to make healthy choices at snack time. This helps to foster children's good health.

p.3

provision is good

Consequently, the childminder has a secure understanding of what to do if she iss concerned about a child's welfare or well-being. The childminder has a range of policies and procedures that support her practice. These are discussed with parents to ensure there is a shared understanding. The childminder is committed to improve her professional knowledge and practice; she attends training and seeks advice from other professionals, using this knowledge to improve outcomes for children.
