This provision is good
The childminder has a thorough understanding of how to implement the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. As a result, the provision for children's learning and well-being is good. The childminder uses observations and her knowledge of children's interests to plan a wide variety of activities that cover all areas of learning. Children settle well and play confidently in the childminder's home. The childminder provides children with lots of praise and encouragement. Consequently, children feel secure and are motivated to learn. The childminder works well with parents. They contribute information about children's existing skills and abilities when they first join the setting. As a result, the childminder can quickly identify children's needs and provide appropriate learning activities. All children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures and the

action to take should she have any safeguarding concerns. The childminder demonstrates a clear commitment to improving her practice. She encourages feedback from parents and children when reviewing her provision.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children time to explore their own ideas and respond to questions. Some group activities are not successful in engaging the interest of all of the children.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder engaged in a range of activities and care routines with children. The inspector talked to the childminder, co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents. The inspector observed a planned activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of suitability and qualifications of all adults living or working on the premises. The inspector looked at children's assessment records, planning and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures and the childminder's self-evaluation form.

who attend. This is good
The childminder uses a range of methods to promote children's learning and development. She actively engages with children, demonstrating how to use tools correctly and safely. Children are encouraged to practise their counting and colour recognition skills in play activities. They recognise number and letter shapes and share books with the childminder. Children enjoy role-play activities and singing sessions. The childminder talks to children about activities, using questioning to extend their thinking. However, sometimes the childminder does not give children time to explore their ideas and respond to questions before offering her own ideas and asking further questions. Children are confident and enthusiastic learners. They enjoy selecting toys and activities that they want to play with. However, some planned group activities do not engage and interest all of the children, which can result in missed learning opportunities. The childminder has a good

understanding of the skills and abilities that children need for their next stage of learning. She provides good support for children starting school.

good
The childminder develops strong relationships with children. She is a good role model, encouraging children to play cooperatively and to help each other. As a result, children's behaviour is good. The childminder supports children's growing independence well. They demonstrate effective self-help skills and older children can successfully manage their own hygiene needs. They learn how to keep themselves safe and healthy by taking part in regular fire drills. Children have opportunities to prepare and eat fruit and vegetables that they have helped to grow in the outdoor play area. Children have daily opportunities to be physically active outdoors in the fresh air. They regularly visit the local park, places of interest and children's groups to extend their learning opportunities.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder regularly reviews the quality of her provision with the childminder she works with. They effectively monitor their assistant's work through supervisions and sharing best practice. The childminder ensures that her training is kept up to date and she researches relevant topics to gather new ideas and information. She regularly reviews the progress of children to identify any gaps in their learning and to plan their next steps. Information is shared with parents through discussion and through an online record system. The childminder has addressed the recommendations from her previous inspection. All medical records are completed as required and the new system for recording children's achievements has improved planning and information sharing with parents. Parents spoken to on the day of inspection were very complimentary about the care their children receive and the variety of learning activities provided.
