who attend. This is good

Children make themselves at home when they arrive. They show good levels of independence when they find their favourite toys. Children make choices from the low- level storage cupboards. This means they can initiate their own play. The childminder joins in children's play and extends their learning and language skills competently. She counts with children and this helps strengthen children's increasing mathematical skills. Children develop good coordination because the childminder shows them how to handle toys. Children solve problems and develop a strong sense of size and space when they fit things together. They develop a love of reading when they look at books with the childminder.

This contributes to their good health and helps strengthen their understanding of healthy lifestyles. The childminder teaches children how to manage their behaviour. As a result, children behave well and develop good social skills. The childminder praises children's achievements and this encourages children to have a go and try new skills. Children are confident and happy. They show they feel safe and secure. The childminder successfully teaches children about safety. This results in children developing a good understanding of how to manage risks and stay safe.

provision is good

Following a recent career break, the childminder updated her knowledge of how to implement the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage successfully. She maintains all the required documentation that helps promote and safeguard children's welfare. The childminder has a good understanding of what to do if she has a child protection concern. Since the last inspection, the childminder gained a childcare qualification and attended a variety of courses that have increased her knowledge and skills. She makes good use of her training to evaluate her practices and make improvements to her childcare setting. For example, following training she improved her assessment process. This is enabling her to plan more effectively to meet children's individual needs. The childminder increased her understanding of good food hygiene practices.
