who attend. This is good

The childminder helps children to develop good communication and language skills during all activities. She encourages children to chat and respond to questions, and to explore sounds and letters. During a water play activity, children explore measurement as they have fun floating boats and filling and emptying containers. The childminder suggests they find objects which are big and small to further extend their learning. Children increase their small-muscle skills as they use nets to catch the toy fish and octopus. They have fun mixing paint and observe and talk about colour changes. Children make good progress, in relation to their starting points, including those with special educational needs. This is because the quality of the childminder's teaching is good, she works very closely with their parents and she acts upon advice shared with other professionals to successfully support the children. The childminder encourages children to be independent as they choose the

toys they want to play with. She interacts warmly with the children and she helps them to develop at their own pace. Children are well prepared for moving on to school.

good

The childminder finds out all she can about the children before they start. She completes the necessary paperwork, such as contracts, and gathers information about the children's care and educational needs. This helps her to provide a good childminding service for children and their families. Children enjoy fresh air and exercise every day as they as they throw bean bags into nets, slide and play on ride-on toys. The childminder provides healthy snacks according to children's individual dietary requirements. The childminder follows good hygiene routines and she teaches children to wash their hands before eating and after using the bathroom. She teaches children to keep themselves safe, for example, as they climb on more challenging apparatus at the park.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder is aware of her responsibilities in meeting the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Overall, she plans a well-balanced educational programme to help children to make good progress towards the early learning goals in preparation for future learning. The childminder tracks children's progress, which helps her to identify and take action to close any gaps in their learning. Parents are very complimentary about the childminding service they receive. Every day, the childminder takes time to talk to parents about their child's routine and achievements. The childminder has very good relationships with the local pre-school and school. She extends the children's learning by linking into activities they experience in these settings.
