who attend. This is outstanding
Children make exceptional progress in their learning because the childminder has an extremely effective system for planning activities and assessing the progress they make. She shares information with parents and others settings to ensure that children are consistently challenged and make rapid progress in their learning. Children enjoy a wide range of activities that are inspiring and original. The childminder asks appropriate questioning during play and considers how to develop their play further. The childminder has innovative ideas for the environment. For example, children access an inviting rest area in the hallway, which is well placed so the childminder can closely supervise them when preparing meals. Overall, the childminder's home is extremely well resourced, although there are few prompts for numeracy and mathematical language on display to capture children's interest.

outstanding
Children learn about healthy lifestyles and habits because the childminder actively promotes regular exercise and healthy eating. For example, nearby outdoor areas are used to encourage physical activity and the childminder introduces new foods and recipes to try each week. Children are active in their local community, participating in fund raising and sponsored activities, as well as regularly visiting a nearby communal centre. The childminder encourages children to adopt routines for setting up meals and clearing away activities. This helps them develop a sense of independence and responsibility. As children begin to move on to a new setting or school, the childminder plans specific activities and discussions to support their understanding of the changes. The childminder's particular focus on the skills they will need to further their education means children are well prepared for the next step in their learning.
