This provision is outstanding

 The childminder's exemplary knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage enables her to meet the requirements securely. This helps her to provide an excellent and safe learning environment.  The childminder's high quality teaching helps children to make excellent progress in all areas of learning, although she does not always display words and letters in all areas of the environment to promote children's literacy skills fully at every opportunity.  Children develop exceptionally good emotional attachments to the childminder. They relate to each other very well, and are extremely content and happy.  The childminder has a comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding and maintains a safe and secure home. She has a secure awareness of possible child protection concerns and of the procedures to follow if such a case arises. The childminder keeps her training and information up to date so she is always aware of the local guidelines.

who attend. This is outstanding

Children explore the environment confidently, indoors and outside. Children of all ages are extremely keen to engage in activities or investigate the abundant range of resources. For example, older children expertly worked out how to make water flow from the water tray to the garden by using some guttering. They quickly discovered that adding more water made the toy ducks 'swim' down faster. The younger children showed exceptional interest in playing with water. For example, they excitedly splashed the water, laughing as they clapped their wet hands. Older children speak clearly and are very expressive in what they say. Younger children happily 'babble' away to each other as if in a conversation. The childminder encourages children's language development exceptionally well with skilful questions, which promote their excellent thinking skills. She routinely provides parents with highly impressive detail about their children's ongoing progress. The childminder

engages them extensively in supporting learning at home and sharing children's achievements. This provides excellent continuity and support for children to flourish.

outstanding

Children's behaviour is exceptionally good. The childminder quickly praises their achievements, supports their positive choices and values their ideas highly. She works very sensitively with children to help them gain independence in their personal care needs. This, alongside their excellent social skills, helps prepare children extremely well for school. Children gain a very good awareness of effective hygiene practices as the childminder involves them from an early age. The childminder promotes children's physical well-being very effectively. She provides children with nutritious snacks, constant access to drinks and energetic activities in the fresh air.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder is highly reflective as she evaluates her practice. She monitors children's learning progress comprehensively. This means she is able to identify any gaps in their learning quickly and close these by planning activities for individual children. As a result, the childminder considers all children's progress and checks there are no areas of learning that she does not promote effectively. She carefully considers the improvements she needs to make to further children's enjoyment and progress. For example, she involves children in deciding what resources they need. The well-qualified childminder constantly improves her knowledge with further training or through her own research. She willingly shares her comprehensive knowledge with other childminders, which helps them share practice to improve outcomes for all children.
