who attend. This is good

The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. Her observation and assessment systems are effective and enable her to plan for the next steps in children's learning. However, the childminder does not always gather precise, detailed information from parents when children first start to support their learning from the outset. The childminder constantly interacts with the children. She confidently differentiates experiences, so that they provide challenge, excite and motivate children to continue their learning. Children enjoy the learning experiences and are keen to join in. They concentrate well at their favourite activities and become engrossed in play with a purpose. Children develop good coordination and control as they use different tools and equipment. They have opportunities to explore through a good range of sensory experiences. All children, regardless of age or capability, are gaining the key skills needed

good

Children thrive in a stable, welcoming, homely and relaxed environment. Their emotional well-being is well supported because the childminder is calm, kind, caring and sensitive in supporting their individual needs. The childminder praises children and helps to build their self-confidence. Children have access to a good range of resources that are safe, clean and age appropriate. They play cooperatively together because the childminder uses a consistent and calm approach to effectively manage their behaviour. Children eat healthy snacks and meals. The childminder reminds them about drinking water throughout the day, especially when the weather is warm. Children are active and enjoy exercise as part of their everyday routines. Older children describe how they evacuate in an emergency and why they wash their hands before eating. This helps to develop children's understanding of healthy lifestyles.

p.3

provision is good

She has a secure understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder routinely checks children's progress and uses her accurate observations to plan further stimulating activities. Policies and procedures that support children's health, safety and well-being are in place and are successfully implemented. The childminder understands how to work in partnership with other professionals involved in children's lives to continually promote their learning. She reflects on aspects of her provision, so that children benefit from a high-quality provision.
