She plans a wide range of stimulating activities linked to their interests. This means children thoroughly enjoy what they do, so learn quickly. The childminder helps children understand the use of books. Children are confident to choose from the extensive range of books offered and listen intently while the childminder she reads them a story. They anticipate what is coming next and quickly join in, showing their interest. In such ways, the childminder promotes children's pre-reading skills; however, the childminder does not make the most of her environment so that children see and use print easily other than in books. The childminder really values what children say and do, which helps them to be very confident and independent learners.

Children's behaviour is exceptionally good. They show kindness and consideration to others by sharing toys and they use good manners. They benefit from the childminder being a positive role model. Children quickly learn simple ways to keep themselves safe because the childminder gives clear explanations and regular reminders. For example, she encourages children to put toys away after they finish playing with them to keep their play environment safe.

The childminder has highly effective partnerships with parents and with other early years providers that children go to. These help the childminder promote a consistent approach to meeting children's needs across the differing settings, and to help aid their progress. For example, the childminder promotes children's confidence with their communication and language to enable them to be more involved in their other settings. The childminder is exceptionally committed to extending her knowledge through training and uses the information gained to improve outcomes for children.
