The childminder nurtures children's physical well-being as they access the fresh air and have exercise. The childminder makes excellent use of various outdoor facilities. Children become extremely independent, for example, as they learn to put on their shoes, balance on the garden swing and use tools safely on their own. The childminder enthusiastically encourages children's social and communication skills. Children learn to keep themselves safe and healthy as they wash their hands or remind each other of the safest route around the garden. Children significantly gain the skills they need for the move to pre-school or school.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder demonstrates the effectiveness of her teaching because she knows how well children progress and what she needs to do next to support them further. The childminder confidently communicates with other professionals at other settings, when necessary, such as teachers and childcare staff. This enables the childminder to have complete confidence as she helps children make extremely good progress in their learning. She evaluates her practice significantly well and consistently takes the views of others into account. The qualified childminder continues to build on her significant level of knowledge through various training courses. She sets excellent targets for improvement that she bases on the best outcomes for children. This means the childminder makes improvements that directly benefit children's learning.
