who attend. This is good
The childminder provides a broad range of opportunities for children to explore the curriculum and develop skills in readiness for school. For instance, children look at books together. Older children read simple stories whilst younger children name the animals in the pictures. This helps children to practise early reading strategies and learn how to take turns and share. Children are motivated to learn through their play experiences as a direct result of the childminder's enthusiasm. She shows them how to use resources such as board games, and introduces different concepts such as counting and looking at colours during play. The childminder knows children well and uses their favourite toys to encourage them to enjoy a mix of structured and spontaneous play activities. This helps children to become independent and confident as they play and explore in the security of the childminder's care.
