who attend. This is good

The childminder provides a broad range of opportunities for children to explore the curriculum and develop skills in readiness for school. For instance, children look at books together. Older children read simple stories whilst younger children name the animals in the pictures. This helps children to practise early reading strategies and learn how to take turns and share. Children are motivated to learn through their play experiences as a direct result of the childminder's enthusiasm. She shows them how to use resources such as board games, and introduces different concepts such as counting and looking at colours during play. The childminder knows children well and uses their favourite toys to encourage them to enjoy a mix of structured and spontaneous play activities. This helps children to become independent and confident as they play and explore in the security of the childminder's care.

She helps children to learn about healthy lifestyles and the importance of being physically active through daily outings to parks, woodlands and local playgroups. The childminder knows how to check for risks in different environments, and makes sure children are safe and correct procedures are in place before they explore new places. She puts in place effective practices to protect children, including thorough safeguarding policies. Children thrive under the childminder's affectionate care. As a result, they are confident, settled and keen to interact with new and familiar adults.
