This provision is good
The well-qualified childminder evaluates her provision thoroughly, which enables her to identify what she can do to bring about continuous improvement. The childminder's teaching is good. She knows the children very well and tracks their progress carefully. As a result, children make good progress in all areas of learning, given their starting points and abilities. The childminder has developed good relationships with the children and their families. She effectively shares information, which helps to promote consistency and continuity in the support the children receive. Children are settled and happy, showing that they feel secure and develop a strong sense of belonging. They are confident and motivated in their learning, friendly, talkative and their behaviour is very good. This all prepares them well for school. The childminder provides a safe environment for children. She successfully uses her

policies to manage her provision and monitor risks to help keep children safe. She has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures. This means that children are safe and secure while in her care and she effectively promotes children's well-being.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder asks children good questions to encourage them to think, but sometimes she answers for them without giving them time to work it out and solve problems. Occasionally, the childminder does not make the best of opportunities to develop children's already good literacy skills by encouraging them to write about what interests them during their play.

who attend. This is good
The childminder's effective teaching supports children's good progress. She completes regular, detailed assessments of their achievements to identify children's next steps in learning and meet their individual needs. She provides children with a good balance of child-led and planned activities. Children thoroughly enjoy the range of stimulating experiences available, which excite them to learn. The childminder encourages them to count and sort during their play with shells and beads. She skilfully introduces colours and shapes during routine activities, such as choosing plates and bowls. The childminder models language well and the children's speech and language is good because of this. She gives clear explanations of activities so children understand the expectations and she enthusiastically joins in children's play.

good
The childminder has a friendly, welcoming approach and provides children with a homely learning environment. They form strong attachments with her and develop friendships as they play happily together. The childminder helps children to understand their feelings and they learn to respect each other's views. Children attend groups and outings in the local area. This helps to develop their confidence and allows them to socialise with a wide range of children and adults, which parents highly value. The childminder provides nutritious snacks and meals, and drinks of fresh water. She ensures children get lots of fresh air and regular exercise in an exciting and challenging outdoor environment. Children make their own choices about their play and develop their independence, becoming keen learners who are confident to try out new activities. They learn to take manageable risks by using the climbing frame and have a good knowledge of the rules when using the

provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. She updates her knowledge and skills by attending training, using the internet and receiving regular updates about current developments in early years. This ensures that she continues to provide good-quality teaching for the children. The childminder values the opinions of parents and children to consider what she does well and the ways she can improve. This ensures that her service continues to improve and promote children's achievements. Parents are kept well informed about their children's day through discussions and learning records. They work closely with the childminder to plan their children's next steps for development. This promotes continuity of care for children.
