who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder strives to secure the best possible results for all children. The monitoring of the educational programmes is highly effective. Any gaps in the children's learning are quickly addressed through action planning and expert help being sought. Consequently, all children, including those who speak English as an additional language, progress exceptionally well towards the early learning goals given their starting points. The childminder regularly reviews activities and play experiences. Therefore, every child is offered tailor-made experiences to help them reach the uppermost levels of achievement. Children are encouraged to think critically and describe what they see and hear during activities. This promotes children's speaking and listening skills exceptionally well. Parents are exceedingly complimentary about the childminder and the impact she has had on their child's excellent development.

outstanding

Children have an excellent understanding of a healthy lifestyle and diet. They have continual access to the highly stimulating outdoor environment. Their physical development is promoted very well. Children's natural curiosity is enhanced as they explore a pipe and guttering system using water. However, children who prefer to learn actively outside do not always have access to resources outdoors to foster their literacy skills. The childminder takes the children on outings to visit the local community drop-in centre each week, to enable them to meet elderly people. This experience helps children gain good social skills and develops their confidence with others. Children have enriched opportunities to develop their own ideas about diversity. They enjoy exploring the Japanese star festival of Tanabata to increase their knowledge of different cultures. Therefore, their understanding of our diverse world is maximised.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The well-qualified childminder has an excellent understanding of the legal requirements. She is professional, very well organised and her documentation is rigorous. All parents and children are fully included in the childminder's robust self-evaluation process. Consequently, she is able to identify clear targets for further improvement. This ensures children's learning experiences are greatly enriched. Since the last inspection, the childminder has improved her practice greatly and raised it to an outstanding level by taking part in a targeted programme of professional development. The childminder also oversees her assistant's practice and provides support and mentoring. Consequently, she and her assistant are continually improving their excellent knowledge and understanding to provide the exceptional practice in the setting.
