who attend. This is good

The childminder helps children to progress in all areas of learning because she sets realistic targets to support and challenge children's learning given their starting points. Children are happy and confident in their environment and benefit from playing with the childminder and their peers. Children laugh when playing with bubbles in the garden, and the childminder effectively uses practical situations to promote young children's communication and language development. As a result, children confidently use two words together to express their thoughts, for example, they say 'bubbles gone' and 'bubbles big'. The childminder shows interest in what children have to say and teaches them how to pronounce words correctly. Children develop a good understanding of some basic mathematical words to support their learning. They show awareness of the difference between hot and cold when they refer to water. The childminder provides good

opportunities for children to learn about the natural environment and gain some understanding of the world. Children learn how things work as they play with simple battery operated toys. Children take great pleasure in playing with musical instruments to promote their creativity.

p.3

good

From a young age children learn about good personal hygiene routines and gain independence skills. For example, the childminder routinely wipes their hands and faces before mealtimes. Children learn to feed themselves and have a say about what they would like to eat. The childminder gives children healthy foods which contribute to their good health. Through the childminder's consistent approach children gain a good understanding of right and wrong, and learn the importance of taking turns and sharing their toys with friends.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has addressed the recommendation made at the last inspection. Effective observations and assessments are now used to support and challenge children's learning, and risk assessment is used well to promote children's welfare. The childminder is vigilant about children's safety at all times and uses gentle reminders to help children learn how to play with toys safely. This enables children to think about their safety and that of others. The childminder demonstrates a professional approach to her childminding service. She effectively evaluates her provision and has identified training courses to strengthen her current knowledge and understanding and further improve outcomes for children.
